Black Forest Merchandise
Not a souvenir but a brand: a handful of one-offs with motifs from the Black Forest, designed and produced by me.
A mark you can sew on is a different thing from a logo on a website: it goes outside with you.
To me Black Forest Patrol is more than a guide – it is an attitude: being outdoors, looking closely, seeking out what is special. The pieces carry exactly that, for everyone who recognises themselves in it.
That is why I designed and produced them myself – the patch, a hat for winter, a tumbler for coffee on the road, a set of postcards and a handful of shirts. Clear shapes, calm colours, considered details: design you like to wear, not a print that looks like a gift shop.
They are made in small numbers, from good materials – not a catalogue, just what I wear myself.

Not merch, a brand
Search for Black Forest merchandise and you mostly find pom-pom hats and cuckoo clocks – souvenirs you buy once and put in a drawer. I wanted the opposite: a brand you identify with, and pieces you wear because they look good.
You only recognise the motifs as the Black Forest at second glance. The Tree Slice Edition shows a fir drawn from the growth rings of a tree slice, the Topo Edition contour lines like on a hiking map. Clearly drawn, sparingly placed, on calm colours – Blueberry, Deep Forest, Chocolate Brown, Syrah Red and black.
I did not skimp on materials: the shirts are 50 % modal and 50 % cotton, the hat is pure merino wool. A small woven label with the fir sits at the hem of every shirt – the detail you recognise each other by.
You can't buy any of it – there is no shop and there are no prices. If you want to know whether a collection comes of it, join the mailing list above.
Questions & answers
Is this classic Black Forest merchandise?
No. Black Forest Patrol is a brand, not a souvenir line: clean design, motifs you only recognise as the Black Forest at second glance, and good materials – pieces you wear because you recognise yourself in them.
Can I buy Black Forest Patrol merchandise?
No. The pieces are one-offs for my own use. There is no shop and there are no prices.
How will I know when there is a collection?
Join the mailing list on this page. As soon as there is a first collection, I'll write to you.
What are the shirts and the hat made of?
All shirts are 50 % modal and 50 % cotton. The beanie is 100 % merino wool.
What do the motifs on the shirts mean?
The Tree Slice Edition shows a fir drawn from the growth rings of a tree slice. The Topo Edition shows contour lines like on a hiking map, the Ranger shirt the round patch logo on the chest. “for rest” and “No WIFI. Still connected.” say in a few words why you go into the forest.
What is the Black Forest Patrol patch?
A woven patch, 7 cm across, with hook-and-loop on the back. That way it moves between backpack and jacket.
What is Black Forest Patrol?
Black Forest Patrol is my guide to real experiences and special places in the Black Forest. The pieces came about on the side, for the same reason as the guide: I wanted them, and they weren't there.
