Frequently asked questions about Black Forest Patrol

What is Black Forest Patrol?

Black Forest Patrol is a curated guide to the Black Forest by Manuel. It collects special places to stay, eat and drink, discover and experience, plus events and stories from the region. Every entry is researched and approved by hand, and no place in it can be bought.

Who is behind Black Forest Patrol?

Black Forest Patrol is run by Manuel, who grew up in the Black Forest and lives here again. He works in media design, marketing and web development and is a passionate photographer. Black Forest Patrol is his project; there is no editorial team or tourism board behind it.

Can I get listed on Black Forest Patrol or buy a place?

No, an entry cannot be bought: Black Forest Patrol has no ads, no commissions and no paid places in a list. Places are included after my own research, and an entry only becomes visible once it is approved and has a real photo of the place. If you know a place that belongs in the guide, write to Manuel – how is on the “About me” page; there is no form for suggestions.

What does it cost a business to be on Black Forest Patrol?

The basic entry is free. A business listed in the guide is invited to take over its entry. It then keeps its address, phone number and opening hours up to date itself – they appear on the entry as soon as they are saved – and can suggest pictures, which are checked before they are published. None of this affects order or prominence in the lists.

Which regions of the Black Forest does Black Forest Patrol cover?

Black Forest Patrol covers the whole Black Forest and divides it into four regions: Northern Black Forest, Central Black Forest, Southern Black Forest and High Black Forest. All addresses are also on one shared map. With your location, the guide sorts by distance, never by ratings or advertising budget.

Is Black Forest Patrol available in English and French?

Yes. Black Forest Patrol is published in German, English and French, each with its own addresses (/en/ and /fr/). Guest reviews appear in the language they were written in.
