Uli's süße Scheune
HüfingenBaar
Farm café in a former cowshed on the Schöndienst farm: a breakfast buffet from its own bakery, 40 seats inside and 60 in the yard.
No picture from here yet – the camera was in the other backpack.
Ulrike Schöndienst has turned the cowshed of her farm into a café. Baking starts at five in the morning – rolls with seeds or a lye crust, wholemeal spelt bread, sweet plaited loaf. The breakfast buffet adds organic yoghurt and tangy hard cheese from the Bioland dairy LeFrombaar in the same village, Bioland eggs, freshly made scrambled eggs with fried bacon, homemade spreads and fruit salad. 29.90 euros per person, all drinks included; children up to three go free, from four to thirteen it is 1.70 euros per year of age.
Since 2026 the place has become smaller: there is no more afternoon coffee and cake, and it opens on three mornings only. Almost every directory online still carries the old, longer hours – go by those and you will find the door shut.
Opposite the café is a self-service farm shop. On nine days a year the bakery also fires up the bake house at the Neuhausen ob Eck open-air museum.
Dogs are not allowed indoors; the owners explain this with the open bakery.

Questions and answers
When is it open, and is there a season?
Friday to Sunday from 9.30 to 13.00, with the breakfast buffet until 12.30. Closed Monday to Thursday. Since 2026 there is no afternoon service – almost every other directory online still lists the old, longer hours.
Roughly what does it cost?
The breakfast buffet is 29.90 euros per person, all drinks included. Children up to three go free; from four to thirteen it costs 1.70 euros per year of age.
Which day is the closing day?
Monday to Thursday.
Do I need to book a table?
For breakfast yes, by phone on 0771 63267. The owners expressly ask for tables to be booked in good time.
Is there anything vegetarian or vegan?
The buffet works well vegetarian: bread and rolls from the house bakery, cheese, yoghurt, muesli, fruit salad, scrambled eggs and homemade spreads. Oat milk is on the table. The owners say nothing about purely vegan dishes.
Which Black Forest speciality is worth having here in particular?
The breakfast itself, because nearly everything on it comes from the village: organic yoghurt and tangy hard cheese from the Bioland dairy LeFrombaar in Sumpfohren, Bioland eggs, and bread, rolls and plaited loaf from the house bakery.
Is there a terrace?
Yes, the yard has 60 seats. Inside the former cowshed there are 40.
Can the dog come inside?
No. The owners explain this with the open bakery in the guest room. Whether dogs are allowed in the yard is not stated – best settled by phone.
Where do I buy what is made here?
In the self-service farm shop opposite the café. What it stocks and when it opens is stated inconsistently by the sources – best call before setting off.
